FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION
Date 5/29/64
R. L. STUDEBAKER [circled in red, initialed KP], Detective, Crime Scene Search Section, Dallas Police Department, advised that he was one of the officers assigned to search the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository Building at 411 Elm Street, Dallas, immediately after the assassination of President KENNEDY on November 22, 1963. STUDEBAKER stated that the search was made to obtain evidence in an effort to identify the person or persons responsible for the shooting of President KENNEDY.
STUDEBAKER related that in the search he recalls finding a soft drink bottle and a lunch sack which contained chicken bones on the sixth floor on the afternoon of November 22, 1963, and on that same date he had taken photographs of the bottle and sack in their original position. He stated that the bottle was sitting approximately three or four feet from the lunch sack.
STUDEBAKER stated that the stack and bottle were sitting near the front of the building facing Elm Street and in the third aisle from the Houston Street side of the building. STUDEBAKER stated that when the lunch sack was first found, it had contained the chicken bones and, to the best of his recollection, a piece of waxed paper. He stated that one of the officers searching the place later emptied the sack, leaving the chicken bones on the floor near the area where they were found.
STUDEBAKER stated that they later ascertained that one of the employees other than OSWALD had eaten his lunch on the sixth floor and that the sack and soft drink bottle belonged to this employee. He stated after ascertaining this information, no further investigation was conducted by the Police Department concerning the soft drink bottle and lunch sack.
