Jack Ruby, immediately following his assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald, calls his victim an S.OB. L. D. Montgomery was one of the few Dallas Police Officers who tackled Ruby after he shot Oswald in the garage of the Dallas Police Office. Montgomery was also one of the few officers present at both the interrogations of Oswald and Ruby.

Jack Ruby, after being arrested by officers of the Dallas Police force, calls his victim, Lee Harvey Oswald, an S.O.B. L. D. Montgomery recalls Ruby's statement in his testimony for the Warren Commission Report on March 24, 1964. L. D. Montgomery was one of the few officers that tackled Ruby shortly after his assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald, and one of the few Police inspectors present at most of the interrogations of both Oswald and Ruby.
